The Golden Boys (2008) is a charming romantic comedy set in 1905 Cape Cod. It follows a trio of elderly sea captains who decide their shared home desperately needs a woman's touch. Like a shipwrecked crew in danger of starving, Zebulon (David Carradine), Jeremiah (Rip Torn) and Perez (Bruce Dern) draw straws to decide who will sacrifice himself for the greater good - by finding a wife. They select a victim and put out a newspaper advertisement seeking a woman for companionship, expecting their request to summon a miserable shrew. Their outlooks change when the beautiful Martha (Mariel Hemingway) answers their ad and captures their hearts, so they begin a competition to determine which sailor will land this prized catch. Based on the novel "Cap'n Eri" by Joseph Crosby Lincoln, the film was adapted for the screen and directed by Daniel Adams and features a strong ensemble cast of veteran actors at their best.
