The Good Wife, also released as The Umbrella Woman, is a 1987 Australian film directed by Ken Cameron and starring Rachel Ward, Bryan Brown, and Steven Vidler. The story takes place in 1939 where Marge Hills (Ward) lives in a small Australian lumber town. She tires of her dull life with her husband Sonny Hills (Brown). She longs for an extramarital affair, yearning for its dangerous excitement. Her husband's younger brother comes into the picture at the right moment, and Marge satisfies her momentary urges. When she meets the manager of a local bar, however, Marge's fantasies become more intense. Picturesque landscapes layer the story with Marge's intense desire to be free of her mundane life. When her opportunity to engage the manager passes her by, Marge becomes consumed by desperation, yearning for him ever more intensely. Marge's passion begins to threaten her reputation in town, as well as her previously stable marriage.
