The Gorgon is a 1964 horror film starring Peter Cushing and Barbara Shelley in a terrifying tale about a bizarre series of murders and the powerful creature responsible for the brutal deaths. The myths of ancient Greece tell of a race of females creatures with writhing, venomous snakes for hair. People unfortunate enough to meet the terrifying gaze of a Gorgon were immediately frozen in place and turned into stone. In 1910, a rural German village experiences a string of these murders. Seven citizens are found petrified as dead statues. The police refuse to investigate for fear of the supernatural being behind the killings. When one young man is wrongfully accused of murdering his girlfriend, his father sets out to clear the boy's name by doing what everyone else is too afraid to do-hunting down the Gorgon woman and exposing the monster to the public. The Gorgon is a classic fright fest, featuring a modern take on one of mythology's scariest figures.moreless
