The Great Bank Robbery is a 1969 Western comedy about a small town bank that attracts the interest of every type of bank robber. In Friendly, Texas, a fortress-like bank safeguards the stolen gold of outlaws from other crooks and the authorities. Of course, every bank robber in the land wants to break in. Reverend Pious Blue (Zero Mostel) leads a crew including Sister Lyda Kebanov (Kim Novak), Brother Jordan Cass (Peter Whitney) and Brother Lilac Bailey (Sam Jaffe) that have infiltrated the town as a religious group. Mexican bandits Papa (Akim Tamiroff) and Juan (Larry Storch) have their own plan. Slade (Claude Akins) just hates killing folks, but keeps pumping bullets anyway. Meanwhile, Ranger Ben Quick (Clint Walker) wants to break in for lawful purposes, to retrieve the hidden account information to track down the outlaws hiding their ill-gotten gains. This slapstick comedy follows the conflicting and inept attempts between the eccentric outlaws.
