The Green Chain examines the tensions between the logging industry and environmentalists in this "faux documentary". Set in a small town in British Columbia, the issues are explored as a cross-section of people respond to an off-screen interviewer. Dylan Hendrix (Brendan Fletcher) positions himself high up in a tree to stage his protest, and Abigail Edwards (Babz Chula), another protester, discusses the issues while being held in jail. Ben Holm (Scott McNeil) talks about his frustrations of earning a living as a logger with so few quality trees left, and his wife, Jenni Holm (Jillian Fargey), who works as a waitress in a local diner, hears arguments from every side about the logging industry. Leila Cole (Tricia Helfer), an actress staying at a local motel, is looking for a cause to champion, and Brett Hall (Tahmoh Penikett), a local firefighter, recounts the challenges of working in logging areas. Using these comments, the director, Mark Leiren-Young, provides a well-rounded look at the economic impact of the logging industry.moreless
