Hawkins (Alastair Sim), a reclusive clockmaker lives a normal unassuming life by day with a dangerous night job on the side - International Assassin. With one more hit on the agenda, Hawkins will once again be the number one man in his profession. But when a mild mannered vacuum cleaner salesmen by the name of William Blake (George Cole) stumbles onto the plot, Hawkins will have to avoid him and the authorities in order to complete his job. When the authorities are left in the dust, it's up to William Blake to stop the assassination plot against a local politician.
