The Grocer's Son, also known as Le fils de l'epicier, is a 2007 French drama directed by Eric Guirado. In the film, Antoine (Nicolas Cazalel) is a 30-year-old grocer's son who left his small village ten years earlier and has been estranged from his family every since. When his father (Daniel Duval), the village's traveling grocer, has a stroke Antoine's mother, (Jeanne Goupil), requests her son to come home and help his brother, Francois (Stephan Guerin-Tillie), run the family business. Antoine reluctantly agrees, but decides to bring his friend, Claire (Clotilde Hesme), with him. Antoine and Claire do not have a romantic relationship, but they would both like to be more than just friends. When he arrives in his village his brother is not grateful that he is there. Francois personal life is in turmoil and seeing him estranged brother only makes matter worse. The survival of the family business depends on whether these brothers can let go of the past and work together.moreless
