The Gun Runners is a 1958 black-and-white movie based on the Hemingway novel "To Have and Have Not" set in the early days of the Cuban Revolution. Sam Martin (Audie Murphy) is a captain of a charter boat, but he is in financial troubles and in need of quick cash. To relieve some of this burden, he resorts to illegal gun smuggling for Cuban rebels. He meets a fellow American named Hanagan (Eddie Albert) who creates a dangerous scheme to deliver the weapons into Cuba. Sam faces many problems while trying to smuggle the arms, especially when it comes to having an alcoholic as a first mate. Forced to comply with the dangerous plan to get the cash he needs, will Sam overcome these obstacles to get out of the trouble he faces? Don Siegel directs this crime thriller full of drama and action about a man coerced to disobey the law.
