The Hasty Heart tells the story of a Scottish soldier confined in a World War II military hospital somewhere in Burma, who learns the value of friendship during the last moments of his life. Corporal Lachlan "Lachie" MacLachlan (Richard Todd) is a brave Scottish soldier confined after a surgery to the lower back from a wound he sustained during the war. The war is over and all soldiers are now packing their things and preparing to go home. However, unknown to him, his wound seems to recover well, but one of his kidneys was destroyed while the other one was also damaged and will be shutting down in a few weeks. When everyone learns about his condition, Yankie (Ronald Reagan), an American soldier, together with his buddies befriends Lachie to become part of their circle to cheer him up. Inadvertently knowing the truth about his condition, he secludes himself from everyone and prefers to be alone. Everyone tries hard just to make Lachie feel loved and cared until his very last breath.moreless
