The Hideout is a thrilling crime drama, set in the late '40s. A writer named Murray (James Donald) and his wife, Eleanor (Valerie Hobson) are on their way to spend the summer in a small cottage that Murray bought to be their eventual retirement home. They see a car crash on the side of the road and pull over to help. The two victims soon regain consciousness and attack the couple. They reveal themselves to be outlaws Boke (Howard Keel) and Jim (David Greene). The two killers hold Murray and Eleanor at gunpoint and demand a place to lay low. Foolishly, Murray lets it slip that they are headed to a cottage deep in the woods. Boke and Jim are overjoyed with their luck and force the couple to take them there. They hide out in the cottage and keep a watchful eye on their new prisoners, knowing that it won't be long before the police show up and they'll have to fight for their lives again.
