The Hills Have Eyes is the terrifying remake of the 1977 Wes Craven flick of the same name. This version is directed by French new blood Alexandre Aja (High Tension, Mirrors, Piranha 3D) and is every bit as harrowing as its classic counterpart. In the film, the vacationing Carter family led by Big Bob Carter (Ted Levine, Silence of the Lambs, Heat, The Mangler, Monk, Evolution) and his wife Ethel (Kathleen Quinlan, Twilight Zone The Movie, Trapped, Breakdown, Apollo 13) gets stranded in the oppressive desert surrounding California and are soon set upon by a roving band of cannibalistic freaks with varying deformities and equally unpleasant personalities. The mutants have an axe to grind with civilization as they were the victims of radiation from government atomic testing in the area, which is the underlying reason for the men and women they are today. The film also features as the rest of the family Vinessa Shaw, Aaron Stanford, Emiie deRavin, and Dan Byrd.moreless
