The Hills Have Eyes (Unrated) is the grisly contemporary remake of Wes Craven's classic horror chiller set in the forbidding Mojave Desert on the outskirts of California. As in the original, the Carter family, led by Big Bob (Ted Levine, Silence of the Lambs, Evolution, Monk, Heat) and consisting of daughters Lynn (Vinessa Shaw, Eyes Wide Shut) and Brenda(Emilie De Ravin), Mother Ethel (Kathleen Quinlan, The Right Stuff), son Bobby (Dan Byrd) and son in law Doug (Aaron Stanford), are cross cutting across the vast, inhospitable desert on their way to sunny Los Angeles for a vacation, when they are directed to a nifty shortcut across a government nuclear testing site. Unbeknownst to them, they have been set up and to this end, their camper trailer is disabled and they are left sitting ducks to be set upon by a murderous and mutated clan of monstrous hill folk that never left the area, even when the government began frequent nuclear tests.

It is not faulty logic that derails The Hills have Eyes, however, but faulty drama. The movie is a one-trick pony.
