Clark encounters as he tries to reform these ex-cons. Rev. Clark tries many different ways to help these ex-cons reform and to accept religion into their lives and into their families' lives. Even though the movie follows the Reverend it also follows the lives of the convicts as they leave prison and have to learn to reenter society successfully. As they reenter society they quickly find out that they face overwhelming temptations to return to their old lives of crime. They also have to battle with racism and various forms of discrimination.
