The House of the Devil is a 2009 horror thriller directed, written and edited by Ti West. In the film, Samantha Hughes (Jocelin Donahue) is a young college student desperate to get her own apartment, because she hates her roommate. Unfortunately for her, she does not quite have enough money to come up with the security deposit and the first month's rent. She happens to find a landlady who is willing to work with her, but she needs to come up with the rest of the money quickly. As she is leaving the apartment she just checked out, she finds an advertisement for a well-paying babysitting job. She immediately calls the number and is hired by Mr. and Mrs. Ulman (Tom Noonan and Mary Woronov) for a one night job. Coincidentally, it is also the same night as a lunar eclipse. Samantha talks her friend, Megan (Greta Gerwig), into taking her to the country home. Once Megan leaves and Samantha is alone, she finds out the job is not exactly what she expected.moreless
