The House Where Evil Dwells is a 1982 horror film directed by Kevin Connor and based on the novel written by James Hardiman, which tells the story of an American family terrorized by a spiritual presence in a Japanese house. Husband and wife, Ted (Eward Albert) and Laura Fletcher (Susan George), and Alex Curtis (Doug McClure), are an American family who decide to move to Kyoto, Japan, in a house that belonged to a noble Japanese samurai. Long ago, the house owner caught his wife cheating on him with her lover, and killed them both in a display of vengeance. Unable to cope with the shame, and following the strict samurai code, the warrior killed himself. Years later, the American family who moves in the house does not suspect that it is haunted by agitated souls who still have trouble finding peace and harmony in their spiritual world. The inhabitants will soon find out what it means to live in a cursed place, as the spirits of the dead will engage in a sinister display of terror.moreless
