A heartwarming look at family and friendship, The Human Comedy is the poignant story of high school student Homer Macauley (MickeyRooney) and the lives he touches while delivering telegrams throughout his small California town during the troubling years of WorldWar II. Based on an original screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright William Saroyan (which he would later adapt into abestselling novel), the movie received four Oscar® nominations – Best Picture, Director, Actor (Rooney) and B&W Cinematography – andwon for Best Story. Reportedly the favorite film of MGM studio chief Louis B. Mayer, The Human Comedy is both moving and timeless, amasterful celebration of the American way of life.
