The Hunt for Gollum is a fantasy-adventure fan film directed by Chris Bouchard, based on the appendices of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings as it centers on the lands of Middle-Earth just before the events in the Fellowship of the Ring. Gandalf the Grey (Patrick O'Connor) is afraid that Gollum's knowledge of the Ring could become the enemy's information and calls upon the skills of the Heir of Isildur, Aragorn (Adrian Webster). Aragorn, armed with the rumors of a fish-stealing creature in a local village and the help of another ranger, Arithir (Arin Alldridge), uses all of his skills as a fighter and a ranger to capture the being formerly known as Smeagle while trying to remain outside the clutches of the Nazgûl. As the search for Gollum rages, Sauron continues to prepare his armies and the beginning of Peter Jackson's highly acclaimed film series on the trilogy has now been put into motion with Aragorn off to wait Frodo's arrival at the Prancing Pony and Gollum vowing to reclaim his precious. The Hunt for Gollum became an instant cult classic, having become the fourth most watched release in May 2009, and was a stunningly developed film made by fans for fans.moreless
