The Illustrated Man is a 1969 science fiction movie based on three short stories "The Veldt," "The Long Rain" and "The Last Night of the World." from Ray Bradbury's 1951 book of the same name. Carl (Rod Steiger) is a vagrant whose body is covered with a kaleidoscope of strange tattoos. As Carl travels about with his dog companion, he meets a traveler, Willie (Robert Drivas), who listens as each of the tattoos has its own nightmarish story. The Veldt is a futuristic story about a couple whose spoiled children turn the tables on them using a nursery equipped with a holographically recreated African veldt. The Long Rain features three astronauts stranded on Venus, who attempt to find shelter from the constant rain by locating a sun dome. The Last Night of the World follows a couple, who in spite of the fact know the end of the world is near, continue with their daily routine. Through a series of flashbacks, the film ties in a mysterious woman, Felicia (Claire Bloom), who is responsible for Carl's tattoos.moreless
