The Industry is a 2004 documentary about the music business, giving a glimpse at the inside players and the way that careers are made or lost. Narrated by MC Lyte, The Industry follows Blue Williams, the manager of OutKast who oversees the production of the group's multi-platinum album "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below," which includes the mega-hit single "Hey Ya!" Chaka Zulu is the manager of Chingy and he talks about what it is like to handle an artist's career. Managers have to do everything from arranging parking for release parties, making sure the caterer is paid as well as ensuring everyone stays on track for an album's release date. Inside the record industry itself, label A&R person Tina Davis is interviewed as is Kanye West, who talks about what it is like dealing with record executives who often do not understand anything about an artist's music. Other music industry players appearing in The Industry are Russell Simmons, Lyor Cohen, Kevin Liles, LA Reid and Ludacris.moreless
