The Inner Life of Martin Frost stars David Thewlis as novelist Martin Frost, who simply wants to spend a couple of weeks in the country doing nothing. Some friends kindly loan him their secluded cottage while they are away, and after a few days of solitude, Martin finds inspiration for a short story and begins writing. The next morning, Martin wakes to find, lying next to him in bed, a mysterious and beautiful woman named Claire (Ir''ne Jacob). Though Martin is skeptical of Claire's identity, he allows her to stay, and soon he falls in love. Is this where a true story begins, or Martin's fantasy continues? Writer and producer Paul Auster is known for blending into his work elements of fantasy, existentialism, solitude and the search for personal meaning. Although uncredited, Auster also provides the calm and quiet voice of narration, giving this imaginative love story a fable-like charm.
