The Innocents is a horror film based on the novella "The Turn of the Screw" and released in 1961. Miss Giddens (Deborah Karr) takes on her first job taking care of Flora (Pamela Franklin) and Miles (Martin Stephans) after their previous governess dies suddenly. At first her job goes smoothly. She gets along with Flora right away, and then after Miles is sent home from boarding school for bad behavior, she finds him agreeable as well. Miss Gidden also strikes up a friendship with the housekeeper Mrs. Grose (Megs Jenkins). However, things take a turn for the strange. Miss Giddens hears the voices and sees visions of two of the deceased housekeeping staff, the valet Quint (Peter Wyngarde) and his lover Miss Jessel (Clytie Jessop). She then notices occasional strange behavior in the children and that the two of them are sharing secrets. As Miss Gidden starts to unravel what's going on, she finds herself involved in a battle against forces beyond the grave to try to save the children's lives.moreless
