The Invincible Iron Man is an animated exploration of the comic book superhero Iron Man. Billionaire industrialist Tony Stark (Marc Worden) attempts to unearth an ancient relic in China and unknowingly unleashes a curse that resurrects the Mandarin (Fred Tatasciore), an ancient Chinese emperor. In the battle against Mandarin, Tony's heart is injured. Luckily, he is aided by a Chinese shaman, Wong Chu (James Sie), and his best friend, James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Rodney Saulsberry). They help keep him alive, but realize he must come up with another solution to survive long-term. The group works feverishly to create a powered armored suit that will keep Tony's heart beating and protect him against the emperor Mandarin. When they are finished, they put the rudimentary suit on Tony turning him into Iron Man. Stunningly animated and featuring top-notch voice work, The Invincible Iron Man is an action-packed film about the origins of one of Marvel comic's most beloved heros.

A rather basic movie from a comic book genre.

I wasn't partcilarly fond of this "origin" story. Or the story in general. The movie starts off a little slow - but the beginning is perhaps the best part of the whole thing. There's the unnecessary-but-forced-into-the-plot love affair mixed into everything, a couple of villains that really don't get any flesh and blood beaten into them, and overall the characers just don't take flight.

Nor does Iron Man; there was surprisingly little of the armored avenger - and most of it was in the Mark I suite, which was just... a shame, really.

The animation was good at most points although the action scenes were very sluggish - and those are the ones that should shine in a super hero movie. The music was good, alhough I'm pretty sure they've used the same tunes somewhere else in the animated Iron Man franchises...moreless
