The Iron Giant is a 1999 animated film about a robot that crashes to Earth and befriends a lonely young boy. Hogarth Hughes (Eli Marienthal) lives a fairly normal life in the small town of Rockwell, Maine. That all changes the day that he finds a giant robot (Vin Diesel) in the woods who has just crashed to Earth. The two form an immediate bond and Hogarth decides to bring the giant robot home with him to live in his barn. The government, however, is also aware that something has crashed to Earth and begins investigating. Agent Ken Mansley (Christopher McDonald) leads the search for the robot, eventually renting a room in Hogarth's house. Despite Hogarth's best efforts to hide the robot, the government eventually finds out about him, and a massive operation is set in motion to capture him. The government eventually decides that the robot must be destroyed, however, and Hogarth must find a way to stop them before it is too late.moreless
