The Iron Mask is a 1929 swashbuckling adventure movie about an evil conspiracy to keep a twin brother from the throne. When the Queen of France gives birth to twin boys, Cardinal Richelieu (Nigel De Brulier) has one of the sons sent away to avoid a revolution. In order to keep the secret, Constance (Marguerite De La Motte), the lover of D'Artagnan (Douglas Fairbanks), is sent away to a convent. Unaware of Richelieu's involvement in Constance's kidnapping, D'Artagnan and his musketeers attempt to rescue her. The black-hearted Count De Roquefort (Ullrich Haupt) discovers Richelieu's plans and kidnaps the twin and raises him in secret. Years later, with Richelieu dead and the twin crowned De Roquefort launches his evil plan to topple the French throne. The king is ultimately kidnapped, put in an iron mask and replaced by his twin brother. Now that De Roquefort's scheme is in motion, D'Artagnan and the musketeers must stop him before he destroys France.
