The Iron Mistress is a 1952 movie that takes a look into the life of Jim Bowie (Alan Ladd). Jim owns a sawmill and sells his lumber down in New Orleans. While in New Orleans, Jim meets a young mistress named Judalon de Bornay (Virginia Mayo). Jim falls for her, but has to return home leaving her behind. However, before he can leave, Jim is challenged to a duel over her. Over time, Jim acquires wealth from his hard labor and happens to run into Judalon again. His dreams shatter when he finds out that the lovely lady is already married. Jim then gets involved with several more duels due to business affairs. Can Jim survive these duels, and will he win over Judalon? Directed by Gordon Douglas, this adaptation from the classic Paul Wellman novel tells a tale of romance and courage, while at the same time providing exciting action and violence.
