The Island of Dr. Moreau is a 1977 science fiction film directed by Don Taylor. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by H.G. Wells. After Andrew Braddock's (Michael York) ship sinks in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, he escapes on a raft and drifts to an isolated island. He soon discovers the residence of Dr. Moreau (Burt Lancaster), a scientist who claims that he is doing medical research. The other inhabitants of Dr. Moreau's compound include a reclusive, alcoholic scientist named Dr. Montgomery (Nigel Davenport), Dr. Moreau's servant M'Ling (Nick Cravat), and Dr. Moreau's mistress, Maria (Barbara Carrera). Although he receives a warm welcome, Braddock soon discovers that the Dr. Moreau is actually on an insane quest to morph animals into humans. When Braddock learns that Dr. Moreau has decided to conduct his crazed experiments on him, he struggles to survive the terrors of the island.
