The Italian Job is a 1969 British heist film starring Michael Caine in a story about a classy con artist who learns of a high risk, high reward robbery that could earn him enough money to retire if he can survive the Mafiosos and police officials trying to stop him. Caine plays Charlie Croker, a career criminal who has recently been released from prison. Once out, he learns his former partner has been killed by the Mafia after the Italians learned of his plan to steal a fortune in gold from Italian car manufacturer Fiat. The plan was high-profile enough to get Croker's partner killed, but the savvy con artist can't resist the plan that could make him rich beyond his dreams. Croker begins assembling a team and attaining the support necessary to complete the robbery. Once the heist begins, the team enters Italy and races to get the gold and get out of the country before their pursuers catch up. The Italian Job is a classic action film full of witty dialogue and gorgeous automobiles, remade in 2003 with Mark Walhberg and Charlize Theron.moreless
