The Judge is a 1949 crime drama directed by Elmer Clifton. Martin Strang (Milburn Stone) has enjoyed a successful career as a defense attorney, but he knows that he has made a few bad decisions in his time. One of them was marrying Lucille (Katherine deMille). If Lucille has any affection left for Martin, she hides it well as she seeks refuge in the arms of a psychiatrist, Dr. James Anderson (Stanley Waxman). Both Lucille and Dr. Anderson knows Strong's vulnerabilities. For years, he has helped guilty criminals walk free. One day, Martin is forced to face the painful reality of his career. James Tilton (Norman Budd) should have been behind bars. Because of Martin, however, the deranged young man was released back into society, where he killed a 12-year-old student (Al Rosman). Driven crazy with guilt and regret, Martin does not take the chance to turn his life around. Instead, he spirals out of control. With the help of a lowlife, William Jackson (Paul Guilfoyle), Martin hopes to carry off the perfect crime. It may end up working a little too well.moreless
