Movie Summary

The Karate Kid II is an adventure drama film directed by John G. Avildsen that continues the lessons and teachings learned by Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) as he works with Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). Starting up almost immediately after The Karate Kid, Daniel has been living with Mr. Miyagi since his mother moved for work, a situation that suits Daniel’s karate lessons. Their relatively quiet lives are thrown up in the air when Mr. Miyagi receives news of his father’s impending death in Okinawa, a place Miyagi hasn’t been to since he fled a feud with his father’s student and his best friend, Sato (Danny Kamekona). Though welcomed back by his childhood sweetheart and her niece, Miyagi and Daniel learn that Sato has essentially bought and impoverished the entire village with his industrialist ways, destroying most of the traditions and livelihood of the residents. Unfortunately, when Daniel inadvertently starts a feud with Sato’s nephew, Chozen (Yuji Okumoto), it seems that history is doomed to repeat itself.moreless
