The Killer is Loose is a 1956 noir thriller from director Budd Boetticher. It's the story of a mild-mannered bank teller Leon Poole (Wendell Corey). After the bank that Leon works at is robbed, detective Sam Wagoner (Jospeh Cotton) implicates Poole as the inside man from information he obtained through a police wiretap. When Wagoner arrests Poole, he accidentally shoots and kills Poole's young wife. Poole is sent to prison and after three years of being a good prisoner, he attacks a guard and escapes from prison with one thing on his mind. Poole wants revenge against Wagoner for the senseless murder of his wife. Wagoner realizes that Poole has escaped and knows he's out to get him and his wife Lila (Rhonda Flemming). Lila is used as a decoy for Wagoner to lure Poole into the open. Does the detective stop Poole before he exacts his revenge? Watch this dark drama unfold to find out.
