The Lake House is a romantic movie made by David Auburn and Alejandro Agresti. The film is based off of a similar Korean movie called Il Mare and stars Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. The film opens with the introduction of Kate Foster (Sandra Bullock), a woman who has been staying at a serene lake house in Wisconsin. The year is 2006. As she makes her move back to her hometown of Chicago, she leaves a note in the mailbox for the next tenant explaining that the paw prints on the walkway were there before she got there. Two years ago, in 2004, an architect named Alex Wyler (Keanu Reeves) is living in the same lake house. The lake house is nothing like it appeared previously in 2006 - it is dilapidated and there are no dog prints on the walkway. As he opens the mailbox, he finds the letter from Kate, presumably from the future, about the paw prints on the walkway. Confused, Alex goes about his life, fixing up the shoddy house. As he repaves the walkway, his dog run across it and leaves paw prints exactly where Kate said they appeared. Alex immediately writes Kate back, asking how she could possibly predict the future. What unfurls is an interesting and beautiful love story. Be sure to check it out!moreless

Never quite sure what it wants to be -- a magical-mysterious love story, a psychodrama, a sprawling family saga, or an uneasy combination of these.
