The Laramie Trail is a mysterious Western about the hunt for a killer. Johnny Rapidan (Robert Livingston) and Frog (Smiley Burnette) encounter a dazed man, Jim Terril (John James), on their way to settle the ranch that had just been acquired in a trade with Bill Smith (Bud Geary). Accused of murdering Bill Smith, Terril has been beaten nearly unconcscious and left for dead. Terril is an old friend so Johnny and Frog believe he is innocent of the murder and resolve to help him. In fact, they think the story is more complex than it appears since Terril had no reason to kill Smith. The two of them set out to prove Terril's innocence and find Bill Smith, who they believe is still alive and possibly behind the plot. Despite a familiar frame-up story, The Laramie Trail is a fascinating and suspenseful B-movie Western from the reliable film team of Robert Livingston and Smiley Burnette.
