The Lather Effect, released in 2007, is a comedy written and directed by Sarah Kelly. In the 80's, Valinda's (Connie Britton) house was the place to party. Forced to sell her childhood home Valinda, now in her 30's, decides to throw one last party, inviting all her high-school pals to reunite. The film begins the morning after the reunion when party-goers wake up hung over in a trashed house. The group of old friends then spend a day treating their hangovers with the hair of the dog, cleaning up the partying mess, catching up on each others' lives, and reminiscing about their youth. Valinda's husband, Will (Tate Donovan) has become a respectable, stable, and rather boring man. Zoey (Ione Skye) and Jack (William Maphother) appear to be the perfect couple, but their marriage is in trouble because Jack still carries a torch for his high school flame. Only Micky, the high school pot head, seems the same as an adult as he was in high school. As the stories unfold, secrets are reveled, candles are put out, old wounds are opened up and adults are forced to evaluate their futures.moreless
