The Law and Jake Wade is a 1958 Western directed by John Sturges. Jake Wade (Robert Taylor), a former bank robber who became a U.S. Marshall, breaks his old crime partner, Clint Hollister (Richard Widmark), out of jail to save him from hanging. However, Jake refuses to tell Clint the location of $20,000 that he buried somewhere in the desert after the pair's final bank heist. Clint and his cowboy gang, Ortero (Robert Middleton), Wexler (DeForest Kelley), Burke (Eddie Firestone), and Rennie (Henry Silva), then abduct Jake's fiance Peggy (Patricia Owens) to force Jake to take them to the money. The men and Peggy head off on a dangerous trip through the treacherous Sierra Mountains and Nevada's blistering Death Valley to find the buried cash. As vicious Comanche Indians block their trail, wild coyotes attack, and the men begin to bicker among themselves, will any of them make it to the money alive?
