The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou is a colorful 2004 comedy adventure from the imagination of writer/director Wes Anderson ("Rushmore"). Ocean explorer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) has fallen on hard times. His wife, Eleanor (Anjelica Huston), divorced him, his last documentary bombed, and he cannot find funding for his next expedition. Zissou wants to vindictively search for the jaguar shark that ate his longtime partner. He manages to scrape up a motley crew on his vessel, the Belafonte, comprised of crusty Klaus Daimler (Willem Dafoe), producer Oseary Drakoulias (Michael Gambon), and money man Bill (Bud Cort). Then, Ned Plimpton (Owen Wilson) tracks down Zissou with claims of being Zassou's long-lost, biological son. Zissou has his doubts but can use the extra pair of hands. While he battles pirates, money shortages and middle-aged malaise, he tries to flirt with journalist Jane Winslett-Richardson (Cate Blanchett), invited along so she can write a much-needed cover story on his exploits.
