Rating:

The Limits of Control is a 2009 drama from lauded writer-director Jim Jarmusch that stars Isaach De Bankole, Bill Murray, and Tilda Swinton in a story about a hit man who is carrying out a job in Spain, where he operates in a world of cryptic messages and bizarre encounters as he moves closer and closer to his final target. While this film tells a story of an assassin on a mission, it takes a notably different approach to the subject than other films about hired killers. This film resists the temptation to become an action film, instead using the profession of assassin to probe into human life and contemplate the motivations and mindsets of these peculiar characters. Isaach De Bankole plays Lone Man, a mysterious character who must operate in shadows and leave no trace while on a mission to eliminate American (Bill Murray). The film takes place in Spain, following Lone Man as he meets with covert contacts who give him the information he needs to carry out the contract. The Limits of Control is a compelling film, featuring original music by Boris and additional music by LCD Soundsystem, The Black Angels, and Carmen Linares.
