The Lion is an adventure film about a young woman whose parents are concerned because she is friends with a large African lion. Years ago, New York lawyer Robert Hayward (William Holden) lost his wife Christine (Capucine), after she went on an African safari and never returned, falling in love with the guide, John Bullit (Trevor Howard). But life in the African terrain is not without its complications, and the former couple's daughter, specifically her friendship with a fully grown lion, is troubling her mother. With her new husband in support of the young girl's ferocious friend, Hayward gets a call to come to Africa and rectify the situation. However, once he is there, sparks fly with the ex-wife he is still in love with, and as their African adventure ensues, the displaced American law man can't help but think there was another motivation for calling him halfway across the globe. Jack Cardiff directs this visually stunning story of an unusual family dynamic.moreless
