The Longest Yard is the cult 1974 comedy crime drama from acclaimed director Robert Aldrich (Kiss Me Deadly, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, The Dirty Dozen) and featuring a unique cast of many former pro-football players. Former pro quarterback Paul Crewe (Burt Reynolds, Deliverance, Boogie Nights, Striptease, Cop and a Half) is sent to jail and is challenged by the mad Warden to put together a football team of cons to play against his guards so they can tune up for the pro's. Paul must pull together a victory with the help of his manager Caretaker, Coach Nate, and football team of inmates with attitudes against the guards. But when Caretaker gets murdered, at half time of the big game the Warden threatens to pin the murder on Crewe unless he throws the game for the guards to win. Now under orders, Paul must decide on helping his team or helping himself.
