The Longshot features four long-time friends, Dooley (Tim Conway), Elton (Jack Weston), Lou (Harvey Korman), and Stump (Ted Wass), who like to bet on the local horse races. Unfortunately, they usually lose, but it doesn't keep them from trying. The boys fall for a con's promise that the race is fixed and he tells them the name of the winning horse. The four decide to borrow money from a local gangster to bet on the horse that they know is a sure thing. They take $5,000.00 of the mobster's money and place the bet, excited that they will finally have a big payday. It's no laughing matter for the guys when they learn that the horse they placed the money on is no winner, in fact, the horse can barely run. How do they get themselves out of this mess? Find out in this light-hearted comedy from 1986 directed by Paul Bartel.
