Movie Summary

Director:
Scott Frank
Released:
2007
Rating:
R
The Lookout is a gritty drama about the unexpected turns that life can take and the awful consequences that those turns often produce. Chris Pratt (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a promising young hockey player who stupidly gets involved in a terrible car accident while driving with his lights off one evening. The accident kills two of his friends and leaves Chris with a form of amnesia that drastically affects his short-term memory. Because of his new disability, Chris finds it difficult to find satisfying work and ultimately ends up working as a night janitor at a bank. It is while working there that a former high school rival, Gary (Matthew Goode) approaches Chris and draws him into Gary's criminal circle. He introduces Chris to Luvlee (Isla Fisher), hoping she will seduce Chris and help convince him to help Gary rob a bank. Ultimately, Chris must face the choice of living his new, limited life or plunging into a life of crime.
