The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra is a comedy directed by Larry Blamire that makes fun of science fiction movies from 1950s. Dr. Paul Armstrong (Larry Blamire) and his wife Betty (Faye Masterson) search for a meteor that may contain a rare element called atmosphereum. Another meteor falls to the Earth, but this meteor is really a space ship that crash lands. The aliens, Kro-Bar (Andrew Parks) and Lattis (Susan McConnell), are from the planet Marva. They need atmospherium as well, so they can repair their ship. Dr. Roger Fleming (Brian Howe) is another scientist researching the area and is curious about a secret cave that may contain a lost skeleton. Paul and Betty finally find a meteor in the woods and are overheard talking by Dr Fleming, who then plans to steal their meteor for his own financial gain. In the meantime, the aliens seek the same meteor so they can return to Marva. Hilarity ensues in this funny sci-fi spoof.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 70

    Variety Dennis Harvey

Affectionate spoof merits appreciation as a not-so-dumb salute to another era's ultra-dumb genre conventions.

  • 60

    Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas

As deliberately silly as the film is, it is very knowing and carefully thought out.

  • 30

The New York Times Dave Kehr

The question remains: why work so hard to make something deliberately bad, when the world is hardly running a shortage of mediocre movies?
