The Lost Son is a fast-paced action film which brings to light the corrupt world of child trafficking - an issue often overlooked and passively ignored. This 1999 film was written by Mark Mills and Eric and Margaret Leclere. Chris Menges (The Reader, Notes on a Scandal) directs. Xavier Lombard (Daniel Auteuil) is a stealthy detective who works out of London. A former private eye for the Parisian police department, he maintains several long-distance friendships with previous co-workers. Lombard's best friend is an attractive escort named Nathalie (Nastassja Kinski) who he can always count on. One day, he receives a call from his former partner in Paris who mentions his brother-in-law has been kidnapped - he requests Lombard's help. As he dives into dark, murky burrows of Europe's cities he stumbles upon frightening evidence of child trafficking. Lombard shifts focus and becomes determined to end the violent oppression these helpless children suffer under. He enlists the help of his trusted friend Nathalie to help him trace the organization's leader - "the Austrian". Violence and action follow close behind. The film co-stars Katrin Cartlidge, Bruce Greenwood, Ciar'n Hinds and Marianne Denicourt. The Lost Son is a must-see, especially for those who enjoyed Taken starring Liam Neeson.moreless
