The Lucky Ones is a 2008 war drama directed by Neil Burger. The film follows three soldiers returning home from the Iraqi War. Colee (Rachel McAdams) is taking her 30 day leave to visit her boyfriend's family and give them his guitar in gratitude for giving his life to save hers. T.K. (Michael Pe''a), on his 30 day leave, is going to Las Vegas, before going home to his wife, in order to validate his sexual prowess after a shrapnel injury. Cheaver (Tim Robbins) is a middle-aged veteran who is retiring from the military and returning home to his wife, Pat (Molly Hagan), and son, Scott (Mark L. Young), in St. Louis. When their flights are indefinitely postponed after a black out at JFK, the three decide to rent a minivan and make their way westward. Along the way, the three soldiers discover that the world they left behind when they went to war no longer exists.
