The Mack is a 1973 crime drama movie by director Michael Campus, starring Max Julien and Richard Pryor. Also known as part of the 'blaxpoitation' film genre, The Mack is about John "Goldie" Micken (Max Julien), a former drug dealer who has just been released from his five year prison stint in the state jail and has decided to switch professions. His new profession, however, is no more legal than the last: Goldie is determined to make the big bucks as a pimp. Things seem to be going well for Goldie as he gets a base team of successful prostitutes and finds the money coming in faster and faster as his client list grows longer and longer. But when another pimp, Pretty Tony (Dick Anthony Williams), two corrupt white policemen, a local crime lord, and even his own black nationalist brother try to force him out of business, things get a little tricky for Goldie. The Mack is controversial for its inclusion of several actual and former pimps.moreless
