The Magic Carpet is a 1951 adventure film based on the Arabian Nights stories. Dr. Ramoth (John Agar) is the rightful heir to the Arabian Caliphate. The evil Ali (Gabriel Gaye) murders Ramoth's parents, and before her death, Ramoth's mother places him on a magic carpet which takes him to the safety of his uncle, a local physician. Dr. Ramoth grows up as a physician and the head of a bandit group who terrorize Ali and his government. Eventually Dr. Ramoth finds a job at the royal palace, working as a court doctor. While there he meets Narah (Lucille Ball), the sister of Ali. In this film a young Lucille Ball acts as the evil but sympathetic sister of the villain, assisting Dr. Ramoth in his quest to fight against the cruelty of the new Caliphate and avenge the death of his father. This film is a classic action-packed adventure through a variety of exotic Middle Eastern locales.
