The Man with the Golden Arm: 50th Anniversary Special Edition is a drama film that tells the story of a man trying to overcome his addiction. Frankie Machine (Frank Sinatra) is a former heroin addict who is being released from prison. With a different outlook on life and a drum set, Frankie hopes to become a drummer in a band. However, his wife Zosh (Elanor Parker) thinks that he is being foolish and that he will not be able to make it as a drummer. Ignoring his wife's negativity, Frankie gets an audition for a band and asks his friend Sparrow (Arnold Stang) to get him a suit. What he does not know is that the suit is stolen and Frankie ends up back in jail. Schwiefka (Robert Strauss), a man that Frankie used to deal for in illegal card games, bails him out of jail, but with a catch -- he must deal for him again. Frankie finds himself back in his former life and must try to resist the temptations that previously ruined his life.
