Dr. James Xavier is a renowned scientist experimenting with human eyesight. He devises a drug which, when applied to the eyes, enables the user to see beyond the normal realm of our sight. Its effects are cumulative - eventually, he is able to see through objects, allowing him to make rapid diagnoses. But there are strange side-effects, and Xavier finds himself first ostracised by his colleagues and then a fugitive from the law. He takes refuge in a small carnival run by the sinister Crane, and, as the effect of the drug gets ever worse, he begins to see not only through walls and clothes, but through the very fabric of reality, and even beyond that...
