Rating:
PG-13
The Mercenary is a classic 1968 Western that follows the story of a mercenary with no alliances. Paco Roman (Tony Musante) is a Mexican revolutionary who is hiding out, posing as a rodeo clown. He happens to run into the Polish mercenary Sergei Kowalski (Franco Nero) while Kowalski is running a train full of silver across the border and into the U.S. Paco tells the story of how he and his girlfriend gathered together a group of rebels to overthrow an oppressive Mexican government and solicits Kowalski's help to that end. He agrees, and Paco begins overthrowing gluttonous landlords and a corrupt government. However, it's clear that Kowalski is only in it for the money, and Paco is torn between his disgust at the greed of his own countrymen and his need for Kowalski's support. Meanwhile, Curly (Jack Palance) is trying to track them and has his mind on revenge. Justice comes down to a matter of speed with cold, hard steel.moreless
