The Midnight Meat Train is a 2008 horror mystery directed by Ryuhei Kitamura. In this film, Leon Kaufman (Bradley Cooper) is a photographer living in New York with his girlfriend, Maya (Leslie Bibb). Leon's photography specialty is dark subject matter. His girlfriend supports his career, but hates to see him so down because it has not taken off the way they hoped it would. In hopes of jump starting his career, she persuades her friend, Jurgis (Roger Bart), to introduce Leon to Susan Hoff (Brooke Shields), a successful art gallerist in the city. Leon and Susan meet and she harshly criticizes Leon's life work. Leon takes the criticism very badly and decides to take a walk in the subway. In the subway, Leon witnesses a series of events that leave him disturbed. He tries to express his concerns to police detective, Lynn Hadley (Barbara Eva Harris), but she has no interest in his story. With no one else to turn to, Leon sets out to find out for himself what dark behavior is happening in the subway.

It's equal parts shivery and silly -- eyeball popping in slo-mo!

Film isn't scary, per se, but it's mostly effective nonetheless, with Cooper capably steering his character from charming young artist to nervous wreck, evoking Ralph Fiennes' more...

May not be grade-A prime, but it ain't chopped liver either.
