The Minotaur, a film released in 1960 by director Silvio Amadio, depicts the classic battle of good versus evil. Princess Phaedra of Crete (Rosanna Schiaffino) has devised a plan to have her twin sister killed. Phaedra gives the order for an assassin to travel to Athens where her sister Ariadne resides and end her life. With everything going according to plan, and her Minotaur plaguing the people of Crete, Phaedra can see victory in her reach. One small detail Phaedra did not calculate was the mighty hero Theseus (Bob Mathias) coming to Ariadne's aid. Theseus decides to put an end to this quarrel once and for all and sets out with his trusted companion Demetrius (Rik Battaglia) for Crete. Theseus' efforts are temporarily placed on hold when he finds himself being held captive, and watches as Demetrius' fate becomes grim. He refuses to give up and uses the life of Ariadne to fuel his escape and continue on the quest of defeating Phaedra and her Minotaur.moreless
